How to Properly Use Eagle Shears
2025-03-15
Eagle shears are tools used for cutting metal materials. Here are the correct steps for using them:
Preparation:
- Choose the appropriate eagle shears: Select the correct size and type of eagle shears based on the type, thickness, and hardness of the material to be cut. Ensure that the cutting capacity of the eagle shears meets the job requirements.
- Check the equipment condition: Before use, carefully inspect all parts of the Eagleshears, including the blades, handles, springs, and pivot pins, to ensure they are in good condition without any looseness, deformation, or wear. If any issues are found, repair or replace them promptly.
- Wear personal protective equipment: To ensure safety, operators should wear safety helmets, protective gloves, goggles, and other personal protective equipment to prevent injuries from splashes during the cutting process.
Operation Process:
- Adjust the eagle shears: Adjust the blade clearance of the eagle shears according to the thickness and shape of the material. Generally, thicker materials require a larger blade clearance, while thinner materials require a smaller clearance.
- Place the material: Position the metal material to be cut under the blades of the eagle shears, ensuring that the material is placed flat and the cutting area is aligned with the blades.
- Grip the Eagle Shears: Hold the handle of the Eagle Shearswith your right hand, keeping your fingers naturally curved without overextending or bending to ensure accuracy and power transmission. Meanwhile, the left hand can assist in securing the material to prevent movement during cutting.
- Apply cutting force: After gripping the eagle shears and confirming the correct material placement, steadily apply cutting force using the strength of the machine's arms and wrists to gradually cut into the material. Maintain even and stable force during cutting to avoid sudden or excessive force, which may damage the blades or deform the material.
- Complete the cut: Once the blades have completely cut through the material, continue applying a certain amount of force to ensure the material is fully cut, then release the eagle shears and remove the cut material.
